If you are not staying for more than a couple weeks, and you have at least a couple weeks advance, you can count on $1200 round trip. Worst case is leave on too short of notice and go back on too long of notice. In this case you can still acheive less than $1800.

Probably as low as around $550 r/t depending on the time of year you go and if you avoid the holiday travel periods. But you should probably try flying out of SFO (San Francisco) also, San Jose Airport cannot accomodate large aircraft like a 747, and does not offer non-stop flights to LHR. You'll have a lot more options from SFO.
