flights from Long Beach CA to San Jose CA??
I will be in Long Beach in a month and want to visit some friends in San Jose. I would prefer not to drive as it is a bit too far for me. Are there local flights between the two places? or am I faced with Los Angeles to San Francisco?

Yes, there are flights. Check US Airways and America West. They seem to be the only two with options. Unfortunately, they seem to be about 300 bucks at the moment, but all travel is going up. Good luck.

Just checked travelocity, doesn't look like there are non-stop flights. American west goes via phoenix. Same goes for long beach to San Francisco or Oakland. There are direct flights from Los angeles to San Jose though, on united and american.

There are plenty of carriers between Long Beach, CA and San Jose, CA. American, Delta, US Airways, America West, and Aloha Airlines to name a few. That is not to say there are a lot of cheap fares. Plan in advance. The difference between buying spur of the moment and in advance is about $200 ($523 to $348). The drive between the two cities is about 5 hours. If you have the wheels, it is a straight shot up Highway 5.

There are flights between these two cities (the airlines mentioned by the other responders appear to be correct). Realize, though, that you may find cheaper flights into San Francisco and/or Oakland. Getting to San Jose from SFO is a cinch, even without a car.... just take BART to Millbrae (1 stop) and Caltrain into downtown San Jose. OAK to San Jose is a little more involved. Take the AirBART bus to Coliseum BART... BART to Fremont... then VTA 180 bus to San Jose.

There are no direct flights between Long Beach and San Jose. If you don't want to go to LAX, try Jetblue. They fly from Long Beach to Oakland. The rest is easy on public transport. And they're pretty cheap. You have to use their website though. They don't book through the big travel sites. www.jeblue.com
