Dollar bill 'raffle' on delayed airplane flights: anyone played it?
I asked this here almost a year ago, but no one had heard of this "game". So I'll try again! :) A few years ago, I was on an American Airlines flight from San Jose to Las Vegas, and we had to wait "on the tarmac" about an hour before we could take off. To help pass the time, the flight attendants said we were going to play a game. Everyone who wished to participate took out a $1 bill. We each wrote our seat number on our bill. An attendant collected all the bills in a bag, then had a child pull one bill from the bag. The person whose seat number was written on that bill won ALL the bills! :) Ever since, I've asked quite a few people (who fly more often than I do) about this dollar bill "raffle", but NO one has ever played this on a delayed flight, or any flight for that matter! I wonder if it's unique to American Airlines, or perhaps it's unique to flights going to Vegas? Anyhoo, I'm curious if anyone here on Yahoo has heard of this game, and/or played it? Sylverbutterfli -- I know it's not a game of skill, which is why I called it a "raffle". And I *do* like your idea of calling it a "lottery". But please, let's not mince words. :) I called it a "game" just as a generic term. Splitting hairs regarding my word choice is not exactly a helpful answer to my question. (I'm not angry, hence my use of the smiley above. I'm just amused at your non-answer).

ive never heard of it but it doesnt sound like much of a game. there is no skill invovled and theres no way to guarantee your chances of winning. its a lottery. edit: im amazing at the non-answer! (tks for noticing:D) but to answering your question DIRECTLY: no, ive never herd of it, or played it, or ever heard anyone else mention it. ive been flying quite a lot recently and i usually have conversation with the people around me, but none of them have ever mentioned. but ive also not been in a big delay. i think once we were like 6th for takeoff, but we were still gone in less than 15 minutes. and p.s. i dont like games of chance cuz im pretty damn skillful, in the right situation, lmao!

Never heard of it, sorry, but it sounds like an isolated incident. A good idea for a Vegas flight. Might be taken as kind of silly on other flights.
