can someone help me?
my cousin from india flew to new york by lufthansa airlines. on the 18th of june, he will be flying from new york to los angeles. i am not sure if he is flying on lufthansa airlines or on some domestic airline. i heard his flight departs 7 am and arrives in los angeles at 10 pm. how is that possible? when i went to new york last year, my flight departed san jose at 7 am and arrived in new york at 6 pm. the total flight was 18 hours because of the time difference and the lay over

Your cousin definitely will NOT be flying on Lufthansa as they do not fly domestically in the U.S. As for the times, the ONLY thing I can think of that would have those departure and arrival times is changing planes somewhere with a HUGE layover.

Probably domestic airline, definiteley not lufthansa because that is a totally different ethnic airline for the trip

okay, this is really simple mathematics and a whole llot of just plain common sense. Los Angeles observes Pacific Daylight Savings Time and New York obviously observes Eastern Daylight Savings Time. If it's a nonstop flight from JFK, the flight time is 6 hours. So if his original flight leaves at 7:00 a.m. and the flight time is 6 hours (0700 hr. + 0600 hr.) = 1300 hrs. These times are written using the 24 hours clock system which all airline and military personnels use. Therefore, his plane lands at 1300 hrs. New York Time which is 1:00 p.m. Los Angeles observes Pacific Time, they are 3 hours behind. That why the local time will be 10:00 a.m.
