can someone help me?
my cousin from india flew to new york by lufthansa airlines. on the 18th of june, he will be flying from new york to los angeles. i am not sure if he is flying on lufthansa airlines or on some domestic airline. i heard his flight departs 7 am and arrives in los angeles at 10 pm. how is that possible? when i went to new york last year, my flight departed san jose at 7 am and arrived in new york at 6 pm. the total flight was 18 hours because of the time difference and the lay over

Your cousin definitely will NOT be flying on Lufthansa as they do not fly domestically in the U.S. As for the times, the ONLY thing I can think of that would have those departure and arrival times is changing planes somewhere with a HUGE layover.
2 :
Probably domestic airline, definiteley not lufthansa because that is a totally different ethnic airline for the trip

okay, this is really simple mathematics and a whole llot of just plain common sense. Los Angeles observes Pacific Daylight Savings Time and New York obviously observes Eastern Daylight Savings Time. If it's a nonstop flight from JFK, the flight time is 6 hours. So if his original flight leaves at 7:00 a.m. and the flight time is 6 hours (0700 hr. + 0600 hr.) = 1300 hrs. These times are written using the 24 hours clock system which all airline and military personnels use. Therefore, his plane lands at 1300 hrs. New York Time which is 1:00 p.m. Los Angeles observes Pacific Time, they are 3 hours behind. That why the local time will be 10:00 a.m.

Irrational fear after 9/11
Irrational fear after 9/11?
I need some stories about things that were blown completely out of proportion due to the irrational fears following 9/11. They should be stories that I can find in the news. I already have the story about the mosque for example. Also, I found this- "The passengers boarding the Virgin Atlantic Airways flight from London to Los Angeles were wary, but everyone began to relax after takeoff. In midflight, over Canada, an attendant noticed a suspicious object behind a seat. Immediately, the cabin erupted in panic. The plane made an emergency landing in Edmonton, Canada, the passengers were evacuated, and a bomb squad was dispatched. The suspicious item? A cellphone." and this- "A man on a flight to San Jose, California, opens an envelope and a powdery substance spills out. A fellow passenger alerts the flight attendant, reporting that he had dispersed the powder into the ventilation system. Once the plane lands, it is held on the tarmac for three hours and the FBI is called to investigate. The "powdery substance" was confetti enclosed in a greeting card." but I can't find the actual news stories that they are tied to. Any help would be greatly appreciated! :) Thanks so much!

Is this flight connection time tight
Is this flight connection time tight?
My flight arrives at Miami from San Jose (Costa Rica) at 4:25, and I'm leaving to Madrid at 6:10. Will I have time to get the flight to Madrid? Also, I am a US citizen, so it won't take so long in security. Also, the flight from San Jose arrives at the same terminal than the one to Madrid departures.

Yes, providing your bags are checked through to your connecting flight so you don't need to collect them.
2 :
Just barely enough time, you need to expect at least an hour to get through customs and immigration and then security checkpoint before you can get into the terminal. If your checking bags, realize you will have to get your bags before going through customs and immigration, once past, there weill be a drop off section for your bags to get on your next flight.
3 :
I think it will depend on how many other international flights arrive in Miami around that time. Other people are probably going to be making that same connection so I would not be surprised if the airlines have planned for this so I think you will have enough time but you don't want to waste a lot of time as you will have to pick-up your bags in Miami and then re-check them to Madrid.

i am in New York and it is all sunny. the weather channel says it should stay the same next week. so i don't know. maybe check the internet next week for weather in new york. =P

It depends on the airport you are flying into and the time. Also, how busy Denver is. I live in NYC and flew back on a direct flight from Seattle a month ago and our flight was delayed by an hour because of plane issues in Seattle - not New York. In general JFK, LGA, and Newark have very heavy flight volume - it's not unheard of that your captain will say "we'll be approaching New York in a few minutes" and then you may circle over the city once or twice before landing - it's just due to the high traffic coming in. Some flights home I've circled for quite awhile, other times we've landed fairly fast. One tip that doesn't answer your question, but will help you: if you plan to take a taxi from any of the area's airports - DO NOT accept rides from people that are standing around the baggage claim. EWR, JFK, and LGA all have official taxi stands right outside, wait at one of those. If the line is long there is usually another taxi stand, a short walk away (that no one else will be at, strangely). Enjoy your trip.

They are always over booked. Get there early.

Guatemala City, Guatemala to San Jose, Guatemala
Guatemala City, Guatemala to San Jose, Guatemala?
My husband has to travel from San Diego to Guatemala to meet his navy ship after our son is born. I can find a flight to Guatemala City. His final destination needs to be San Jose, Guatemala. How would he get there? Are there any flights or would he take a bus? How far is it? Who would we work with to make this happen?

ITS NOT THAT FAR FROM THE CAPITAL! I WOULD SUGGEST TO ARRIVE AT THE AIRPORT CALLED LA AURORA (THATS THERE MAIN AIRPORT) N TAKE A BUS FROM THERE ITS PROBABLY A COUPLE OF HOURS BUT NOTHING BIG. LOOK ONLINE TO FOR TRANSPORTATION LIKE BUSSES PLAIN ETC. BEST THING TO DO IS WHEN HE GETS THERE TO ASK THEY WOULD FOR SURE TELL HIM THE BEST WAY!!! HOPE THIS HELPS!!
2 :
I assume you are talking about Puerto San Jose since it is a navy ship he is meeting. There are many San Jose de (whatever) in Guatemala. The coast is probably only a couple of hours by land from Guatemala city. You could charter a flight to the Puerto San Jose airport, but there are no commercial flights. I would guess the cost would be prohibitive. http://www.tag.com.gt/ingles/charters.htm There are buses, but if you are not familiar with Guatemala and don't want an experience I don't really recommend trying that. I think the best idea would be to charter a taxi. I would guess that for $100 you could easily get somebody to drive him to the coast. Maybe the best idea is to stay in a nice hotel. Marriott or Holiday Inn, etc. and have them arrange with one of their approved drivers. It will probably be more expensive than negiotiating on the street, but much safer.
3 :
Take the bus or rent a car, the road is pretty new and pretty nice.

congrats on your baby go to the capital of guatemala airport which is la aora then either take a bus or taxi. Or he could rent his own car. Make sure its a luxury bus a good brand because some buses just rob people you never know

Do Southwest Airlines fares usually increase as you get closer to your travel date
Do Southwest Airlines fares usually increase as you get closer to your travel date?
I'm trying to book at flight from Chicago to San Jose the first weekend of October. Should I book now or wait for fares to drop? Do they even drop as the date of travel approaches?

Fares ALWAYS increase the closer to the date you get.
2 :
They can increase so lock in your tickets soon.
3 :
Yes. They go up because the airlines figure that if you really want to travel on those dates, you will be willing to pay.
4 :
Yes. Book now. The tickets almost always increase in price as the travel date comes closer. If the fare drops, you can call Southwest and they will refund you the difference. Have a great trip!
5 :
Yes they do.
6 :
Every airline's fares increase the closer you get to the date of travel. Book now.
7 :
It's called and advance purchase..Some airlines have some that are even 60 days out..It's an incentive for the passengers to book further in advance, and the airlines make more money. Also, if you end up having to change, they make more money. Best idea is to book now and save any hassle closer to the date.
8 :
In general ticket prices tend to increase as you get closer to the date of departure. I suggest you buy at least 14 days in advance of the day you fly out otherwise the ticket prices will most likely jump up a bit.
9 :
Southwest's fares almost always go up the closer you get to your departure date. It's easy enough to check by comparing prices for dates in October with prices just a few days or a week out on their website. Southwest shows fares in early October from Chicago to SJ for $149 each way, fares for the next week or so are $370 each way. It's not even close, buy soon for the best price: http://www.southwest.com/
