Guatemala City, Guatemala to San Jose, Guatemala

Guatemala City, Guatemala to San Jose, Guatemala?
My husband has to travel from San Diego to Guatemala to meet his navy ship after our son is born. I can find a flight to Guatemala City. His final destination needs to be San Jose, Guatemala. How would he get there? Are there any flights or would he take a bus? How far is it? Who would we work with to make this happen?

ITS NOT THAT FAR FROM THE CAPITAL! I WOULD SUGGEST TO ARRIVE AT THE AIRPORT CALLED LA AURORA (THATS THERE MAIN AIRPORT) N TAKE A BUS FROM THERE ITS PROBABLY A COUPLE OF HOURS BUT NOTHING BIG. LOOK ONLINE TO FOR TRANSPORTATION LIKE BUSSES PLAIN ETC. BEST THING TO DO IS WHEN HE GETS THERE TO ASK THEY WOULD FOR SURE TELL HIM THE BEST WAY!!! HOPE THIS HELPS!!

I assume you are talking about Puerto San Jose since it is a navy ship he is meeting. There are many San Jose de (whatever) in Guatemala. The coast is probably only a couple of hours by land from Guatemala city. You could charter a flight to the Puerto San Jose airport, but there are no commercial flights. I would guess the cost would be prohibitive. http://www.tag.com.gt/ingles/charters.htm There are buses, but if you are not familiar with Guatemala and don't want an experience I don't really recommend trying that. I think the best idea would be to charter a taxi. I would guess that for $100 you could easily get somebody to drive him to the coast. Maybe the best idea is to stay in a nice hotel. Marriott or Holiday Inn, etc. and have them arrange with one of their approved drivers. It will probably be more expensive than negiotiating on the street, but much safer.

Take the bus or rent a car, the road is pretty new and pretty nice.

congrats on your baby go to the capital of guatemala airport which is la aora then either take a bus or taxi. Or he could rent his own car. Make sure its a luxury bus a good brand because some buses just rob people you never know

Do Southwest Airlines fares usually increase as you get closer to your travel date

Do Southwest Airlines fares usually increase as you get closer to your travel date?
I'm trying to book at flight from Chicago to San Jose the first weekend of October. Should I book now or wait for fares to drop? Do they even drop as the date of travel approaches?

Fares ALWAYS increase the closer to the date you get.
2 :
They can increase so lock in your tickets soon.
3 :
Yes. They go up because the airlines figure that if you really want to travel on those dates, you will be willing to pay.
4 :
Yes. Book now. The tickets almost always increase in price as the travel date comes closer. If the fare drops, you can call Southwest and they will refund you the difference. Have a great trip!
5 :
Yes they do.
6 :
Every airline's fares increase the closer you get to the date of travel. Book now.
7 :
It's called and advance purchase..Some airlines have some that are even 60 days out..It's an incentive for the passengers to book further in advance, and the airlines make more money. Also, if you end up having to change, they make more money. Best idea is to book now and save any hassle closer to the date.
8 :
In general ticket prices tend to increase as you get closer to the date of departure. I suggest you buy at least 14 days in advance of the day you fly out otherwise the ticket prices will most likely jump up a bit.
9 :
Southwest's fares almost always go up the closer you get to your departure date. It's easy enough to check by comparing prices for dates in October with prices just a few days or a week out on their website. Southwest shows fares in early October from Chicago to SJ for $149 each way, fares for the next week or so are $370 each way. It's not even close, buy soon for the best price: http://www.southwest.com/

How does a 14 year old fly across country

How does a 14 year old fly across country?
So here's my dilemma. I currently live in Allentown, PA and I want to travel across the country to San Jose CA. I'm wondering the cheapest way to do this. I need a hotel room for a few days at San Jose so I'm considering buying a package deal. I'm meeting one of my friends (an adult) when the plane stops in Chicago and then we'll both take the plane to CA. So my question is...should I buy a package deal with my flight (to San Jose and back to Allentown) or should I ask my friend to buy a package deal with his flight (to San Jose and back to Chicago)? Which way is cheaper?

The cheapest way is you leave Pa. at night on a bus and sleep and arrive in Chicago in the morning and your friend makes the ticket preparations for the two of you the rest of the way. Having an adult make the reservations removes alot of possible issues for you flying alone and only 14. The bus trip will be similar to me going from Charlotte to Philly, about 600 miles. I'd leave Charlotte at 7pm and arrive 8am and sleep during the trip. Under $60 one way. Your friend can search the internet for low discount fares round trip Chicago to Ca. Or call a travel agent. Here is some info about the rules being different: Each airline has its own set of rules. In general, airlines promise to escort unaccompanied minors onto their flights and release them to the properly designated person upon arrival. Some carriers give children pouches where they can keep their IDs and itineraries. Others have designated areas in airports, with books, games and snacks, where children can wait for connecting flights under airline supervision. This is as cheap as I can find round trip Chicago to San Jose: $311 Frontier Airlines and USAir with a stop in Denver. $311 [Total Incl. fees excl. taxes ] Take off $15 Instantly - click here ¹ Frontier Airlines Flight 171 318 More Information Chicago Midway (MDW) Denver (DEN) 06:00am -25Mar, Thu 07:37am -25Mar, Thu Nonstop Coach 2hr 37min Frontier Airlines Flight 1069 E90 More Information Denver (DEN) San Jose (SJC) 08:30am -25Mar, Thu 10:19am -25Mar, Thu Nonstop Coach 2hr 49min Flight Duration : 5hr 26min Layover Time : 0hr 53min Total Trip Time: 6hr 19min US Airways Flight 6316 752 More Information San Jose (SJC) Denver (DEN) 02:20pm -31Mar, Wed 05:54pm -31Mar, Wed Nonstop Coach 2hr 34min Operated by United Airlines Frontier Airlines Flight 541 318 More Information Denver (DEN) Chicago Midway (MDW) 07:05pm -31Mar, Wed 10:23pm -31Mar, Wed Nonstop Coach 2hr 18min Flight Duration : 4hr 52min Layover Time : 1hr 11min Total Trip Time: 6hr 03min let me know if you want more info. I think splitting a hotel cost when you get there might be cheaper than some package. The package might not have a hotel near where you want to go, or maybe you plan a rental car. You might luck into a deal on a plane ticket where an accompanying child (under 17) flies cheap or free with an adult so let your adult friend find the deals.

Stuck in San Jose, Costa Rica...What do we do

Stuck in San Jose, Costa Rica...What do we do?
My boyfriend and I will be traveling to costa rica in a few months. We will fly into San Jose then go to the Province of Puntarenas. The only problem is that our flight lands at 9am but we can't check into our hotel until 4pm. Since we will have our luggage we won't be able to really explore when we arrive. What our some things to do on the way to the Central Pacific Coast that will kill a lot of time?

It might take you longer to get from San Jose to Pacific Coast than you think. First time I went there I trusted my companion. She said it should take about an hour or hour and a half. It was more like about 6 or 7 hours and the pot holes in the road looked like vol-canoe craters which is why they had to drive slowly.
2 :
In hotels like the Doubletree Hilton in Puntarenas and Barcelo Tambor Beach, also in Puntarenas, they also tell you that check in is at 4 pm. However, that doesn't mean that you can't go there, leave your stuff with the bellhop and enjoy the facilities while you are waiting for your room. If I were you, I would call the hotel and find out whether they have a safe place where you can store your luggage if you arrive a little earlier. If not, I suggest that you never lose sight of your luggage anywhere around the airport or in San Jose. There are many thieves looking to prey upon unsuspecting tourists who are too trusting. If you need more information about Costa Rica, try the TicosLand.com website.

Head towards your hotel, enjoy the ride, look around, etc. When you get to the hotel attempt to check in. More than likely you will be able to. If not, the hotel will likely hold your bags so that you can check out the local surroundings. NOTE: If you are renting a car be aware that similar to the 'Bump & Run' technique used in the U.S. where a planned low speed accident is designed to get the victim driver out of their vehicle for a strong-arm/armed car theft … tire spiking is the method of choice used by criminals worldwide when targeting tourist driven rental cars loaded with suitcases full of nice clothes and expensive electronics. Be sure your car rental company briefs you on safety measures just to make sure your visit to this wonderful country is without a major negative incident.

On you way to Puntarenas you have to go through San Mateo, On the main road, there is a place called PANACA. http://www.panacacostarica.com/index.php Its like a big farm, you can actually play with the animals they have. It will take most of your day time. For me, I would rather get to the beach and get hammered watching the sunset. You´ll be getting out of the airport like at 9:30 am / 10 a.m. Depending on were your going the trip is going to take at least 3 hours, if you stop for food 4. Lets say you get there at 2 p.m., 2 hours of drinks at the beach isn´t a bad idea. Might do it this weekend....
