Immigration and customs into USA

Immigration and customs into USA?
I am currently in costa rica and will be turning to the USA where I am a citizen. My flight leaves San Jose,cr and then arrives into ft. Lauderdale,fl and I am supposed to continue to chicago. When I arrive back into USA in ft lauderdale will I have to retrieve my checked luggage and then recheck in? I ask because I would like to stay in ft laudedale for a few days and don't want my luggage to continue with me. Is this possible? But will I have a chance to retrieve my bags once I enter back into the us? And then leave the terminal

No. Your ticket and luggage are for Chicago. You can't stop off for a visit because your air ticket cannot be changed.

Yes. Ft Lauderdale is your port of entry. You will need to clear both US Customs and US Immigration there. That means you will claim your baggage and take it through customs. What you do with it after clearing customs is up to you.

You will not have to pay for the boaring pass as you have already paid for the ticket. You go to the check in with the e-ticket and the swap it for the boarding pass with the details on it. They will see you have a connecting flight and give you the boarding pass for the connection flight too - do not worry! They will also make sure the bags are marked with the final airport, so you will not have to move them from one plane to the other.

yep, you should get everything at checkin, and check your bags all the way through, at SJC, so keep your passport handy!

No, but you must apply for the appropriate visa to live there, through the Korean embassy. In most countries, you must apply for a residency visa and live there at least 5 years before you are allowed to apply for citizenship. You can get all info from the Korean embassy.
2 :
Unfortunately you cannot just live there, you must be there for a "purpose". You can visit there visa free for up to 90 days (If you hold a U.S. passport), but any longer, such as "living" there would require a long-term visa such as a work visa or a student visa. If you are currently employed by a multinational, see if the possibly have an office in Korea and any open positions, or maybe teach English. English is the biggest craze in Korea right now, and as much as parents want their children to learn Korean, schools, academies, and tutoring centers are looking to hire foreign help. Also maybe do a job search, see if you can work in Korea full-time, renewing your visa each time it expires. Obtaining Korean citizenship through the means of being a permanent resident, takes many years, requires many preconditions, is lengthy and you must go through the Korean legal system (Which is very complicated), and citizenship tests are very difficult. The only other way to obtain Korean citizenship (Well the simplest way) would be to marry a Korean citizen, and taking on their citizenship. I hope that helped, and hopefully you will get to Korea someday soon. Seoul is an amazing city, and has so much too offer (Plus it's very safe). ** As far as a flight from San Jose to Seoul-Incheon, it would take anywhere between 15-20 hours depending on where your connecting flights are. There are no direct flights from San Jose to Korea, so you most likely would have to transfer planes in Los Angeles with a 2-3 hour layover before departing straight for Seoul. **

The flight from LAX to Seoul is about 9-11hours. it's very exhausting for me. and you can't be a korean citizen unless your parents are citizens of korea but you don't necessarily have to be a korean citizen to live in korea. hope that helps:)

What's a nice hotel near the San Jose, Costa Rica airport

What's a nice hotel near the San Jose, Costa Rica airport?
Need a hotel for one night near the San Jose, CR airport. I arrive on a regional flight at 11AM and depart the next day for the US at 6AM. I would like somewhere pleasant w/ a pool that's near the airport. I would prefer NOT to stay at an American chain (i.e. NOT the Hampton Inn). Preferably around $100 per night would be a good budget. Thanks. Thanks. I should stay near the airport because my flight to the US is at 6AM the next day. Know any good spots near the airport? Or is Hampton Inn the only option? Thanks. I think I'll pass Adventure Inn only because it doesn't look like it has a good pool scene. I'm going to spend almost the whole day in San Jose, so I'd like a place w/ a decent pool. Any more suggestions?

BRAVO! You can't believe how happy it makes me to hear a comment from a like-minded traveler. I just DETEST lame chain places when I can stay in a colorful locally operated property. Unfortunately for you, the Hampton Inn happens to be freakin' smack dab next to the San Jose airport, which is why so many Americans love the heck out of it. I always just bite the bullet and do the 20 minute taxi ride each way into downtown San Jose where I stay in one of the B&B style inns in Barrio Amon for half the price and twice the quality. There's a lot of good places there: the Don Carlos is excellent, the Brittania very upscale, the Hotel Santo Tomas unassuming but friendly, the Fleur de Lys cosmopolitan with a heavy european clientele. Just a few ideas...

Stay at the Hampton. I had the same opinion and took the 20 min ride into San Jose. I got robbed the in less than one hour. Stay out of San Jose.

Try adventure inn, ive stayed there myself.. its cheap, the rooms are very clean and overall its a nice place. Its about 5 minutes away from the airport, you can take a taxi from the airport for maybe $5, or a bus for 25 cents. Here is their site: http://www.adventure-inn.com/

dude... there is a nice hotel near the airport called Mango Hotel its like $90 a room is nice there and its quite next to the hampton inn
