I will be in Long Beach in a month and want to visit some friends in San Jose. I would prefer not to drive as it is a bit too far for me. Are there local flights between the two places? or am I faced with Los Angeles to San Francisco?

Yes, there are flights. Check US Airways and America West. They seem to be the only two with options. Unfortunately, they seem to be about 300 bucks at the moment, but all travel is going up. Good luck.

Just checked travelocity, doesn't look like there are non-stop flights. American west goes via phoenix. Same goes for long beach to San Francisco or Oakland. There are direct flights from Los angeles to San Jose though, on united and american.

Plan in advance. The difference between buying spur of the moment and in advance is about $200 ($523 to $348). The drive between the two cities is about 5 hours. If you have the wheels, it is a straight shot up Highway 5.

Take the AirBART bus to Coliseum BART... BART to Fremont... then VTA 180 bus to San Jose.

I have a greatly ill grandmother who I urgently wish 2 see. And don't have enough to take a roundtrip flight, which usually costs around $400.00 to $500.00. If no one could help me with a ride, can anyone refer me to a cheap bus line that can travel from the sf bay area, and stop at Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico?

Finally going to meet my grandparents but im having a hard time finding airline tickets. I have never been to an airport or been on a plane. Is there a website where i can book their tickets? it just adds 50 dollars to whatever my "Bid" is. I bet $1.. the total is $51.00 to fly to San jose. Is that real? Common, If i bid $20 for that flight. and i give my credit card. Is is guarenteed to me? how can they do that? i dont get it.

It depends on what kind of car you have. On my 97 Accord, I should make it on 1 full tank, or just make 1 stop. Now if you were driving some old truck then you might need to stop more than once. Depends on car.

Look at a map (the old fashioned way) or use mapquest to find the total distance from point A to point B, then if you know about what kind of mileage your vehicle gets, simple math will tell you about how much fuel it should take. Then divide the fuel total gallons by the size of your tank to get the number of stops.

Total Est. Time: 5 hours, 19 minutes Total Est. Distance: 342.33 miles Now, if you're driving my tow truck, and getting 8 to 12 miles to a gallon, that will give you one number. If you are on a motorcycle, that will give you another. Figure out what you will be driving, and what the mileage is. How far can you go on a full tank? Do the math for the about 345 mile trip, and you will know.

A few years ago, I was on an American Airlines flight from San Jose to Las Vegas, and we had to wait "on the tarmac" for about an hour before we could take off. To help pass the time, the flight attendants said we were going to play a game. Everyone who wished to participate took out a $1 bill. We each wrote our seat number on our bill. An attendant collected all the bills in a bag, and then had a child pull one bill from the bag. The person whose seat number was written on that bill won ALL the bills! :) Ever since, I have asked quite a few people (who fly more often than I do) about this dollar bill "raffle", but NO one has ever played this game on a delayed flight, or any flight for that matter! I wonder if it's unique to American Airlines, or perhaps it's unique to flights going to Vegas? Anyhoo, I'm curious if anyone here on Yahoo has heard of this game, and/or played it?

Currently, I am finding tickets over $ 200.00. The other day found them at $ 147.00 only if i acted on it then. =( Need about 3-5 tickets. Leaving from Oakland, San Jose or San Francisco. Leave either Thursday night, or Friday morning. Preferrably come home on a Sunday mid afternoon or night. Please help.

Which airline has the cheapest flights from Central to South America?
I am looking for a flight FROM either San Jose, Costa Rica or Panama City, Panama TO Santiago, Chile. Which ailines offer the best rates from Central America to South America. I am looking to buy a one-way ticket leaving on Jan 6th 2008. I just want the cheapest flight...accomodations are not important to me. Thanks for your help.

Yes! And it was my first kiss too! :P It happened about a month ago. I was 17. I was at a crazy dance and this group of hot Brazilians approached me and my friends. Is Southwest going to expand their service to SFO and serve Burbank, Ontario and John Wayne?
Many people including myself were so excited about Southwest flying into SFO. To my surprise it doesn't help me very much. The service goes only for LAX to SFO. To fly from Burbank I still must fly to Oakland to visit the bay area. Another option is to fly United from Burbank to SFO and get ripped off. Burbank needs more affordable flights to SFO. Southwest has plenty of affordable flights to San Jose and Oakland.

What is the best way to travel from Manuel Antonio to San Jose International Airport?
I need to be at the San Jose Airport by noon the latest on a Friday and do not want to drive myself. What would be the best way to get there, I know there are public buses but I cannot find a set schedule for them and want to be sure as I have a flight that I cannot miss.

I'm trying to book a flight to San Diego from San Jose on Southwest Airlines because I found a roundtrip for $88.00. Anyway, I've noticed that on certain days it goes up. I tried to book it on Friday and today and it was at more than $300.00. Why does it go up on certain days? And what days is the cheapest day to book tickets. Not to fly but to book.

becaus most people have the weekends off and most people travel friday- sun...so they want to make the most money so they raise the prices for the majority that travels on the weekends.......also u can see this close to holidays as well....advice would be to buy ur ticket on a monday away from holidays and travel when u want.......hope i helped...:) Chris

Well u want to book it on a very normal day never on a holiday i would have to say Wensday is your best and never weekend and make sure you are doing 14 days before departure cause then the prices go up.

Hi, Because of very complicated visa issues, I need to travel between San Jose (Costa Rica) to Japan without going through the US at all. I just can't land in the US. I looked for flights to Australia, Brazil and others, but I can't find a flight that doesn't cross through Los Angeles, Miami or New York. I thought this is ridiculous, but do you guys know of any way to do this?

I'm flying into Oakland this week. My ultimate destination is San Jose, but I cannot get a non-stop flight from here to there. Figuring I could go into Oakland and go the rest of the route via cab or shuttle. Thanks.

I am planning to book a flight from San Jose, CA to Austin, TX. But I dont want to take a direct flight to Austin as they are early morning flights and the ones I am interested in have a layover of one hour in Dallas, TX. How to get from Mineta San Jose International Airport to SFO?
I'll be heading to SFO for a flight, but the airporter will only take me to Mineta San Jose International Airport. They (the airporter) say that I can then get on a monorail that will get me straight from Mineta airport to SFO. Does anyone have any details on this, such as the ticket prices, station locations, etc? And just what is this "monorail" called?

Im going between june 1 to june 11 and would like specific cities or hotels in costa rica to stay in . I already have my flight into san jose. So now i just need SPECIFIC places . Im not a pro surfer , more beg.- intermediate! please let me know !

I live and surf in Costa Rica. I live near Dominical which has the most consistent surf year round. It can be a tough break for surfers who have progressed from riding in the whitewater and are now trying to ride the breaking waves. In my opinion the area that is best in the country for new and intermediate surfers who want to come and know that there will be surfable waves (some surf breaks don't work year round) is Playa Carmen in Santa Teresa. Santa Teresa has several surf breaks that are great for surfers of any level. Playa Carmen would be a beach I would vote in the top 5 in the world for beginning surfers. The hotels in the area vary in price from budget backpacking to excellent boutique style hotels. Another area to consider would be Tamarindo. A little too touristy and built up for me, but many people still like the area.

I can drive from Heilbronn to Stuttgart, or Strabbourg or Frankfurt then fly to San Francisco or San Jose. I heard there is a non-stop flight from Frankfurt to SF but I need more driving. I am not sure which way is the fastest. Thank you.

I would fly straight to San Francisco, then fly to San Jose. Southwest Airlines has cheap flights between San Francisco and San Jose every day. Driving is just too much of a hassle between those cities, and traffic in San Fran can be a huge pain.

Years ago, I took a non-stop flight from Frankfurt to San Francisco. It was a boring experience. If you really need to get there quickly, the extra driving will be worth your while. If I recall correctly, those aren't huge driving distances. It's not like being in the US, where in some areas, it can take you half a day to get to a major airport. The nearest one to me is more than a hour's drive away.

"How" you find the best price on flights is simple...you spend time on the computer looking on one site after another, day after day until you find the best one you can. People seem to think there is some kind of magic to finding a good price on a ticket...there is not. It is simply "hard work"...not asking someone else to do it for you. Also...you have waited too late to find a "bargain" for Christmas time. Then...Michoacan is not a tourist destination...so therefore you are not going to find "bargain" fares going there. I presume you would fly into Morelia.) The best available fares will be to Guadalajara or Mexico City...then you would need to take a bus...about 4 hours. Also, you will do better if you look for flights from San Francisco, rather than San Jose.

There are two connections with most , One in the US and one in DF. total time involved is 12 hours. They are available for early December. If you want to get adventurous you could take a bus up to SFO and get a non-stop (5 hours) to DF for $500.usd and collectivo to Tapo, it is very close and can be walked if you are Not packing too much luggage. If you googlemap the airport it is the circular building N/W of Benito Juarez Airport. From there you can get a luxurious 1st class bus and make the 200 mile trek in 4 more hours. The bus is around $40.00 usd (To Morelia)

Need a tip to find decent Military airfare from San Angelo TX to San Jose CA.

My Airforce son is coming home for Christmas. I am trying to get a ticket for him. All flights out of San Angelo are super expensive. Tickets from Austin and San Antonio are less but wondering if there is a way to get to those airports that doesn't involve renting a car (too young).

My girlfriend & I are trying to find a cheap flight to San Jose, but everything seems to be so expensive. The cheapest I have found so far is with Southwest for $451 per person, but that is still high. Does anyone know of a good site to look at? Are there specific departing days that flights are cheaper?

I live in Australia (Sydney) and am hoping to fly for a visit to California in November. I'm looking (as we all are) for cheap flights to LA or San Jose or San Diego. But every time I type in a search for a flight from Sydney to San Jose or San Diego it mentions flights to LA or SF first.

All airlines going out of SYD to the United States go to Honolulu, San Francisco or Los Angeles. You will either have to take a connecting flight to San Jose, or just fly into SFO. San Jose is 45-60 minutes south of SFO. San Diego is 1.5 - 2 hours south of LAX.

Volcan Arenal. Then go to Monteverde or tortugero. If you have the chance, dont miss to go to Isla Torguta

if you want a volcano then go to arenal. its really nice. for a beach then go to jaco or manuel antonio. you have to go ziplining or take a nature hike though, they are amazing. or you can rent a surfboard for a few dollars an hour.

It is hard to go to Arenal and then head over to the pacific, especially with so little time in the country. I suggest if you are going to see the lava flows in Arenal make sure you are traveling in the dry season as cloud cover often obstructs the view. From here it is easy to get a shuttle to either coast. It will take about 4 hours and cost you about $45 to get to Nosara which is a really cool beach. http://www.anywherecostarica.com/nosara-costa-rica/travel.htm you can book your shuttle on this website too. Rincon de la Vieja is a cool volcano too. It is the most active in the Guanacaste Mountain Range. Volcan Arenal. Then go to Monteverde or tortugero. If you have the chance, dont miss to go to Isla Torguta

if you want a volcano then go to arenal. its really nice. for a beach then go to jaco or manuel antonio. you have to go ziplining or take a nature hike though, they are amazing. or you can rent a surfboard for a few dollars an hour.

The beach is a MUST. Volcanoes aren't that nice, but if you haven't seen one it's impressive. Monteverde is a must too if you like ecology. Rafting is really nice. Guanacaste offers some good hotels and beaches.

It is hard to go to Arenal and then head over to the pacific, especially with so little time in the country. I suggest if you are going to see the lava flows in Arenal make sure you are traveling in the dry season as cloud cover often obstructs the view. From here it is easy to get a shuttle to either coast. It will take about 4 hours and cost you about $45 to get to Nosara which is a really cool beach. http://www.anywherecostarica.com/nosara-costa-rica/travel.htm you can book your shuttle on this website too. Rincon de la Vieja is a cool volcano too. It is the most active in the Guanacaste Mountain Range. i just bought a ticket to San Jose yesterday and the cheapest I found was American Airlines....try it

when traveling abroad i have found that if u fly with the countries major airline its usually cheapest and they dont charge you for big bags (surf bags, fishing poles etc). when i travel central america and especially costa i always fly TACA airlines. go to there site and gauranteed its the best. they only charge $100 to change the departure date too... incase you dont want the fun to end

Most flights are at $500+. Looking for travel in August. Travel dates are August 24th-28th.

You did not say specifically when in AUG 2006; however, the least expensive flight BAR NONE is $625 R/T. Because August is right around the corner the airfare rates tend to be higher, as opposed to if you were leaving 60 or more days from now.

Hi, we just flew round trip from San Francisco to Liberia for about $200 per person with taxes. I know this sounds crazy, but check travelocity, expedia and all of those type sites a couple times a day and something will probably pop up. We did and booked right then and are very happy with what we paid. We also booked about 3 weeks before we left. San Jose, Costa Rica is filled with ripoff artists. We met four people that had everything stolen from their locked car while getting lunch. Luckily they had their money with them. They all bought a change of clothes because the didn't want to spend their cash. Be careful in San Jose. I enjoyed Liberia and stayed in a cool place called El Punto www.elpuntohotel.com This was a little more expensive than the cat infested back packer places, but was well worth it.

August is low season, there are direct flights from Lax son Sjo on sundays by American Airlines or try www.taca.com August is a rainy month in costa rica and hotels are at their cheapest, visit the rainforest and volcanos especially the arenal it is currently active and at night is beautifull to see the lava flows Hope it helps any other questions I shall look again tomorrow
