Info on airlines and being a flight attendant

Info on airlines and being a flight attendant?
Okay so when i graduate high school i really want to become a flight attendant. (But i want an actual career in psychology. ) soo i WILL be attending college DURING my flight attendent career. i heard that is possible. can i still get my degrees as fast as everyone else if i take alot of online classes and dedicate myself to keeping up with classes? Also i am not sure what airline i should choose? i currently live in California around san luis obispo and the nearst large airports are LAX and San Jose. So i would probably have to relocate wouldnt i? I can do that thats not a big problem but i do want to pick an airline that travels internationally. prefably to places like france because i am currently studying that language and i do want to someday move to france for a few years. What airline does that? LAX would be the best base for me because i do want to stay in california but its so expensive down there! so now that you know my situation if you have any better ideas or suggestions pleeeaase let me know!!!!

There is the San Luis Airport, you planning on going to cal poly or cuesta? Those flight route SLo to San Fran, Slo to LA Slo to phonenix are very short. Also check out santa maria airport Oh after you work your way up the latter you can probably transfer as well flight attendant career and college to the big citys like LA and San Fran sand do your internaitonal stuff.

In order to travel to france fromt the United States as a steward you would most likely have to work for two airlines as connnections. But really your best bet would be to fly to Dublin considering terminal 2 is opening in november and that will be Delta's european base(now working for the worlds largest airline by fleet size is good for your CV). Delta will most likely fly direct from dublin to new york.I know Aer Lingus,Delta and Continental all currently fly Dublin-Shannon-New Ark but when terminal 2 opens in november they will operate direct to New Ark from Dublin. You may get flights coming in from france connecting into Dublin then back out into New Ark,which might suit you better tough you will have to work longer hours. I am not presently sure if there will be direct flights/connecting flights that go from Dublin to the airports you mentioned it might be worth your while contacting Delta to find out that information. I hope this information has helped you out.

Unless you work for a very small regional airline, you heard wrong. When you hire on with an airline, you go to the bottom of the seniority list, that means you work on call with a couple hours notice, and cover for anyone out sick or on vacation. You might have a one or two day layover at another city somewhere. You aren't going to have anything like a regular schedule. Even FA's with seniority can't plan their routine, as airlines will change flights and times about every three or four months to accommodate flight loads or route changes. Even taking online courses, might depend on when your school work needs to be finished, and you might be somewhere else. You don't have much time to do school work on a layover. It's usually eat, sleep, and gone again. What airport you work out of depends entirely if it's a hub for that airline or not, and where their job openings are. You'll relocate where they need you.

Gromit is correct in his answer. It will take you twice as long to get your degree if you try to go to college and work as a flight attendant. Best to get the degree first...the job will always be there, and by then, perhaps the majors will be hiring again- as those are the airlines who are going to fly to France. Another thing to consider is that LA tends to be a very senior base for most airlines, so even if your airline has a base there, you may still be stuck flying out of NY or some other city.

First of all you would not be able to fly internationally for years because you would be on reserve and you might have to relocate to an airport across the country. Make your decision school of flight attendent. Done tons of research on this for years. But after a few months you might be able to relocate to your airlines chosen base.

A visa is not required as long as you stay in the international area of the airport but you can't leave it. Since you have a 12 hour layover, you should inquire at the KLM counter, for the form that lets you buy a Tourist Visa. It costs $5.00. Then you can hire a taxi and get to see a little bit of the city. I recommend that you go to Multi-Plaza Mall. It is about a 25 minute ride from the airport. It has a lot of places to eat as well as very nice shops. A closer and less upscale mall is the new Metro Mall. While you are in the airport, when you leave the Customs/Immigration area, taxis outside will be looking for your business. The ride will cost you about $25.00. The price is set by the airport mafia. One way to get around this steep fee, is to go upstairs where taxis leave off people who are departing. . The stairs are just to your left after you leave Customs. The taxis upstairs usually drive back empty, so you can make a deal. Offer the guy ten bucks to take you to Multi-Plaza. It works. You might even get it for seven. Its found money for them at that price. CAUTION. If a cop is right there, the taxi might speed away. I've never had that happen to me.

Cost to attend the University of Cambridge

Cost to attend the University of Cambridge?
The University of Cambridge is one of my top choices of universities of which I would love to attend. I live in San Jose, CA, U.S.A, but have wanted to attend the University of Cambridge for as long as I can remember. What is the price for a round trip flight to Cambridge in USD if it's only for a week, perhaps just for the interviews? How much would it be just to fly there and stay?

On Farecompare (see below), there are some cheap flights for $700. Typically it can cost about $900. You can find hostels in London, which are less than hotels. Plan for $100/day to include accommodations and food.
